Welcome to the Northwest AEA Teacher Librarian Pages!
This page is meant to be a helpful resource for teacher librarians. While it is hoped these pages will serve as a resource for you, we're hoping the pages will also serve as a place where you will share your ideas and resources with others as well. On each of these pages you'll be able to add links or upload documents you've created as well. Need comments from your colleagues on something? That's possible as well.
Much of the information on these pages will be dedicated to the new requirements for library programs in the state of Iowa. This year AEAs will be providing some professional development opportunities for teacher librarians to learn more about the components of a strong library program. The AEAs will be trying to help practicing teacher librarians understand and meet the new requirements of the law and perhaps aid in revitalizing school library programs. Again, we're looking forward to hearing your ideas and are encouraging you to share resources with each other.
This page is a work in progress. This year we plan on hosting two professional development days for teacher librarians in Northwest AEA. At that time, we will spend time considering curriculum, teaching and techology: reading and literacy; and collection development. We're also sponsoring the statewide ICN booktalks again. Additional information will be added to the respective pages at that time. Events are scheduled for November 12, February 24 (booktalks) and April 14.
Other links to information can be found on the sidebar as well. Investigate the new Northwest Iowa AEA Online Media Catalog homepage. Feel free to share comments with us. There's also a link to the Iowa AEA Online portal. The AEAs in Iowa are providing nine online resources for every student and staff member in schools in Iowa. If you have questions please let us know.
